WFME announced today that two new countries have been granted WFME recognition status.
- The National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) of Spain, and
- The Republic of Kazakhstan, accredited by the Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA)
In both cases, the agencies have received recognition for a full 10 year period.
This brings to 32 the number of agencies now recognized by WFME, representing at least 59 territories. (Some accrediting authorities represent several territories). For a full list of authorities/countries, see this link.
Still Engaged in the Application Process
There remain 14 authorities currently applying for WFME recognition, representing about 18 countries/territories. Notably absent remains the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC) which has not yet lodged an application for WFME recognition.
