Once an Accreditation Authority establishes its Standards for Medical Education, a protocol must be established that describes how the Standards are maintained. Examples of issues that need to be addressed are:

  • Who is entitled to request a change to the Standards?
  • How is a request presented, and to whom?
  • How often are requests considered?
  • Who has the authority to accept/reject changes?
  • What is the procedure to discuss changes?
  • How are changes to the Standards disseminated, how often, and to whom?
