Once an Accreditation Authority establishes its Standards for Medical Education, a protocol must be established that describes how the Standards are maintained. Examples of issues that need to be addressed are:
- Who is entitled to request a change to the Standards?
- How is a request presented, and to whom?
- How often are requests considered?
- Who has the authority to accept/reject changes?
- What is the procedure to discuss changes?
- How are changes to the Standards disseminated, how often, and to whom?
