I offer a variety of services to assist International Medical Education Accrediting Authorities (based outside the USA) to obtain WFME and NCFMEA “recognition” for their undergraduate programs. For details of my experience, click here.
WFME (World Federation for Medical Education)
Commencing 2024, if a country wishes its medical school graduates to have access to the United States for postgraduate education, the Medical Education Accrediting Agency of that country must be “recognized” by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). Only then will graduates of that country’s medical schools be eligible to obtain “Certification” from the US ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). Without ECFMG Certification, foreign medical graduates will no longer have access the US. (Update, Oct 2022. ECFMG now accepting NCFMEA recognition as well as WFME.)
NCFMEA (National Committee on Foreign Medical Education & Accreditation)
Some countries admit US students to their medical schools. For such students to be eligible to apply for and receive US Federal Student Loans to finance their studies, the agency responsible for accrediting the foreign medical schools must be periodically “recognized” by the US Education Department’s National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA). Without NCFMEA recognition, US medical students studying outside the US will not have access to US Federal Loans.
