Are foreign medical schools accredited in the US?

Foreign Medical Schools – those situated outside the United States – are NOT accredited in the US. However, some country’s accrediting authorities are granted “comparability” status by the US Education Department’s National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA). Medical schools in countries where the accrediting authority has been granted “comparability” may be considered accredited by an agency similar to that of LCME. For a list of current comparability decisions of NFCMEA, see here.
