WFME
WFME requires a site visit to the country whose medical school accreditation is being assessed. During this site visit, WFME representatives will be present at two events:
- An Accreditation Authority’s team site visit to a school being assessed.
- Discussion at the Accrediting Authority of the findings of a school that has been assessed by the accreditation team. (This need not be the same school as #1 above.)
WFME requires payment of an application fee, as well all expenses of the site visit of its team.
NCFMEA
NCFMEA does not require a site visit. The application is made online together with all supporting documents.
Full “Comparability Redetermination” will probably require that representatives of the country under assessment appear in person to answer questions before NCFMEA – usually at a meeting held in Washington DC. In recent years, due to the Covid19 pandemic, NCFMEA has allowed some meetings to be conducted virtually. (See this page to see if the next meeting will be in-person or online).
There are no application fees involved in the NCFMEA application. Likely costs will be incurred in sending a country’s delegation to the NCFMEA meeting.
